American Idol Buzz

Filed under: Uncategorized — Catherine Lorin @ 3:46 am

I have been hearing my officemates talk about the latest in American Idol. I quite didn’t get it why they super watch the show, until i found out my titas and cousins are watching it too! So i realized i must be the only person alive not watching this tv show!

So last night in the heat of Channel 2’s The Singing Bee, i asked my lolo (because he owns the TV at home) if we could switch to Star World, glad he was cool about it though.

I gave the TV show a chance.

.. and found out why everybody’s watching it, soooo gaga about it, this man’s the culprit!

I bet it’s not gonna be the same show without Mr. Cook huh? Oh yeah, i regret why i found out about this show too late, it will be the finale next wednesday already. I’m catching up though, thanks to limewire, which is also thanks to Roxy anyway for introducing limewire to everybody a long time ago.

David’s got the voice, and the star quality too, he’s already the winner.

Today I’ve learned…

Filed under: Out of Boredom — Catherine Lorin @ 9:19 am

Sorry for the sooo KC Concepcion title… but today i’ve learned:

* That ordering McDo meals on a 15-minute break with the boss around is not a big deal at all. Having it charged to the petty cash should be the goal next time.

* That downloading all the Beatles song via limewire takes a lot of more time than i imagined.

* That having some old-time friends connected to the National Statistics Office is the most convenient bonus during a tired and busy day.

* That changing blog templates once in a while should be the most constant thing in the blogosphere.

* That life can’t be more fun, and sometimes effortlessly just convenient.

My last 60P

Filed under: office agenda — Catherine Lorin @ 3:55 am

I was sent to an errand yesterday and i drove 160 kilometers all in all. It was a very long day. I never thought i could make it there alone. I was driving the whole day and i stopped in between to say hi to old clients, engaged in some time-consuming chit-chat of course. The small talks delayed my travel by the way. So anyway, as i nearly finished my tasks, i got a call from the country manager asking me to send a report ASAP.

First reaction: Drive faster and get back to Davao, find a wi-fi hotspot establishment.

I did, never tried a hundred km/hr drive in my history of driving. So i got back in Davao much earlier than i estimated and went to this famous coffee shop.

I checked my wallet and found out i only have 60 pesos left, i forgot to drop by the bank. I told myself i really have to order something inside this famous coffee shop to save face, so i decided i should at least order one cup of hot chocolate. I took my laptop and put three pieces of 20 peso bill in my pocket and started my way inside. Before i stepped in the etrance, i got a call again reminding me how urgent the report was. So i checked for an outlet, turned the laptop on and ordered a cup of hot chocolate.

I went thru my files immediately without minding how careless i must have looked rushing with my urgent errand… I went to Outlook, attached the report, only to find out my message can’t pass thru. Just when i knew that the network has a problem, my hot chocolate arrived. So i asked the waiter to help me solve the network problem instead and retried my luck. He told me click the refresh button. I did.

Another call, i was flaring up already.. What’s weird was my settings showed im connected to the network but its just not sending. Tried it in yahoo and it showed internet explorer canot display the webpage.. I had it. So by the way, i had a sip of the hot chocolate and prepared to get out of there. Before i even ordered the drink, i didn’t bother to ask how much is the cost, so i looked for the waiter, told him i really can’t connect, asked for my bill, told him it better be 60 pesos because i didn’t have a peso more, handed him the three 20 peso bill from my pocket my jeans was too tight i hardly pulled the bills, to the left — exit.

Boring

Filed under: Lamentations Part 1 — Catherine Lorin @ 6:18 am

Heavy truths spilling over I can’t imagine how its advocate could only take it as inconsequential. Not an act is done without giving it a nip of thought, for that reason I cannot possibly believe that there is something not done on purpose. Everything’s all-encompassing of intentions, be it pure or dark, be it smart or stupid, the fact is one has chosen to do it and has already done it just like that. I’ll throw the idea of this whole event being insignificant away, as far as I am concerned, this is the most immature rubbish I’ve ever dealt with. Even I don’t deserve to hear this unsound argument. This is one stage of my being that I was not given a choice.

I could never be too tough, but I just am. Creating problems and spilling them out over the years like a sort of incurable disease is what you call careless aging. I’m sure I can get away from this without guilt, not a set of pleading eyes could sway me. I have grown up so stubborn and I already made up my mind. I cannot afford doing something, halfhearted.

Fallacy: Appeal to Flattery

Filed under: office agenda — Catherine Lorin @ 6:07 am

1. Person A is flattered by person B.
2. Person B makes claim X.
3. Therefore X is true.

Relative instances:

1. You are more capable of handling the marketing division, i prefer you over her. However, it will be best if we can have you for sales support for the meantime. (STRIKE 1)

2. I want you to handle the fund for this year, you are very well-versed with the mechanics compared to her. So talking about this, you can now spend for what we only need at this moment. (STRIKE 2)

Humming, and waiting…

Let it be’s baby brother

Filed under: Uncategorized — Catherine Lorin @ 7:48 am

Let it be’s been our favorite.

Less talk, more information, more advantage.

The past? Leave it to where it belongs.

Is it all too much? Let it be… and just lately we found let it be’s baby brother, and its no other than… FORGET ABOUT IT.

Make life a little less complicated. Embrace what should be and let it be or, forget about it.

If love is…

If love is something that can be explained in exact words, then love is but an inaccurate abstract form… yeah?

Defining a Geek

Filed under: Out of Boredom — Catherine Lorin @ 3:50 am

People asociate ‘geek’ to ‘nerd’. So here i found the following signs that would limit being a geek to being a nerd.

There are certain signs to being a geek and not a nerd. You would be a geek if:

1. You have a “My other car is a Millenium Falcon” bumper sticker on your car.

2. You think your retainer resembles a Klingon Warship.

3. You can can tell what speed a computer is connecting just by the sound the modem makes.

4. You think your computer speaks to you in English.

5. You can write papers in Binary.

6. You use a VoiceModem headset when making calls.

7. Your idea of a house party is snacking on Rice Krispy Treats and watching Tron.

8. You’ve seen The Guyver.

9. You have the TIE Fighter ion cannon as your ringtone.

10. You call your bedroom the Fortress of Solitude.

11. If you are able to give ten identifying signs of a geek. (LOL)

A Shituation

Filed under: Lamentations Part 1 — Catherine Lorin @ 3:34 am

Life is too big to handle, no nothing is bigger or much fuller than it is.

For the most part I slid in a shituation for the reason someone can’t take it anymore. Taking extra responsibilities is never fun. I could say no, or I could say yes out of respect and to do away with a self-made drama.

This could not be self-imposed stress anymore you know.
