The Blue Room

Filed under: Friendship — Catherine Lorin @ 8:16 am

I apologize for the low quality photos, consider it as the adobe photoshop elements 7.0 effect because the real camera was busy during this boring night. This is not the first time that i posted photos taken from a 2.0 megapixel camera phone, as you may have noticed already ^^

Contrary to what i expected we could afford, we went to The Blue Room – a bar that’s literally a blue room at the Apo View Hotel that survived the Pag-asa bar, SPAM (where i had a taste of my very first vodka tonic back in my 3rd year high school) – and of course the infamous club when i was in college – Liquid. I really thought we would end up watching a rock band at Cynthia’s, where the possibility of being stabbed to death is 10/10 probable. I was somehow embarrassed yes because again i underestimated Papasang. I didn’t know he’d shoulder the excess of the expenses. We agreed for P200.00 per head, dinner turned out P1,400.00 plus the P150.00 per head consumable at the bar.The expression in Papasang’s eyes was PRICELESS…

You may be wondering why the photos are dull. The answer is: it depicts a scenario that was literally dull. That explains why i converted the photos to black and white. Of course i know black and white is beautiful, CLASSIC – same with the band that performed that night, gosh, pre-historic. Papasang’s left foot was secretly tapping to the rhythm on the floor. He was so happy he bumped into his batch mates. A positive comment: the band was good though ancient, they played the hits of my gods and some from ABBA, Queen, Rolling Stones, etc.. It was just frustrating my young party friends felt we were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it was soooh cold in there fffhhh! The waitresses were hot by the way, like you can actually see the oldies stare and drool.

Bribed Again

Filed under: Friendship — Catherine Lorin @ 9:15 am

I want to know how much is the SRP of a 70ml Nestle Pinipig Vanilla Ice Cream Pop! Seems like we are on to a déjà vu party again tonight – organized by the old man. This is Cherry Mae’s fault, I should have driven her to the Bureau of Customs this afternoon, I should have volunteered to be her slave driver… you see, this is the root cause of all our economic crisis. The single ladies always end up charmed by Papasang – our wallets bleed for the déjà vu meetings, duh, all in payment for Cherry Mae’s favor… I don’t know why this Cherry Mae is so brilliant, and I can’t quite understand why at her single misspelled –no punctuation marks- text, Papasang comes crawling ready to be her slave.

I’ve heard we are going to spend P200.00 each tonight for a fine dining and a freaking rock band – a deviation from the usual Bakbak-K1 route. A single pinipig ice cream pop is not enough bribe! We need to find a way to take a portion of the old man’s grease money, for the $aving$, besides, the sessions are all documented… an official receipt sold to ******.

I’ll have to post this as Step 7 of 100. Maybe tomorrow, my glamour half day.

I’m not guilty for posing as the model this time, not my line ever! I just have to put another photo for comparison, ug mag effort jud ko ug explain.

Step 5 of 100: "Mye’s Birthday Party"

Filed under: Friendship,Last Bonding Moments — Catherine Lorin @ 1:04 am

The catch: this party was not initiated by the celebrant herself because she’s 30M broke for taking 66 individuals with her to the beach last holy week to celebrate her birthday. Kadatu ba!!! Somebody made the arrangements for 5 minutes, Mye was just informed about her birthday bash part 2 the day after her birthday… the culprit: Papasang (who else?). The celebrant was overwhelmed because Papasang gladly took care of the invitations as well. Amazing. Just look at this man…

And the song goes…

Step 4 of 100: "Halo-halo"

As usual, boss was not around. We were free to order what we wanted for merienda + the picture taking. This was when the new password was made, the bisaya edition of the yummy element of the original password we used in Cebu – I had nothing to do with it, Mye’s the proponent.

Halo-halo from Chowking – this time not for free. Cherry is already bankrupt so we all spent for step 4 of the last bonding moments. The halo-halo is 1/4 the essential chunks and the 3/4 not even crushed ice. Not gonna buy it again, promise!!!

Step 3 of 100: "The Chocolate Cake"

Last bonding moments, step 3 of 100:

Again, thanks to Cherry (and Mr. Pang too) for the chocolate cake, we sure enjoyed it yesterday because LJ was not around.

Step 2 of 100: "Mangosteen"

Last bonding moments step 2 of 100…

The Purple Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana), colloquially known simply as “the mangosteen”, is a tropical evergreen tree, believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands and the Moluccas of Indonesia. The tree grows from 7 to 25 m (20-80 ft) tall. The rind (exocarp) of the edible fruit is deep reddish purple when ripe. Botanically an aril, the fragrant edible flesh can be described as sweet and tangy, citrusy with peach flavor and texture.

The Purple Mangosteen belongs to the same genus as the other – less widely known – mangosteens, such as the Button Mangosteen (G. prainiana) or the Lemondrop Mangosteen (G. madruno). Botanically, they are not related to the mango (Mangifera spp.), which belongs to the Anacardiaceae plant family.

Just recently a bunch of mangosteen sellers started lining up by Lanang, and we pass by them everyday on our way to work. Cherry bought mangosteen three weeks ago and the price was considerably high as compared to when she bought the mangosteen (not in Lanang) near the Bureau of Customs last Friday (together with Mr. Pang). The fruit is quite expensive but to date, you can now find PhP45.00 a kilo around.

To document step 2:

We are really serious about the documentation, we want it FLAWLESS. Haha!
